Weight loss can be tricky to manage, but the keto diet, also known as the ketogenic diet, is a foolproof strategy to follow and you can even eat cheese.
The keto diet is a low carb diet plan which involves eating very little carbohydrates, with some protein and a lot of fats including cheese and avocados.
The underlying idea behind it is that your body will go into a fat burning process called ketosis to help you drop substantial amounts of weight.
Followers beginning the plan at a moderate weight have reported losing as much as a stone in just a fortnight.
A typical keto diet daily plan involves eating less than 20 grams of carbohydrates per day – which can be as little as half a burger bun or one medium potato.
This restriction is said to help to maintain the process of ketosis, meaning your body burns fat rather than the carbohydrates you are eating.
Meanwhile, 60 to 80 per cent of your daily diet will be made up of healthy fats: oil, butter, flax seed, cheese, for instance.
As a fat based fruit, avocado is also firmly on the menu with the diet, even though it contains a small amount of carbohydrate too.
Proteins such as grass fed meats (lamb and beef), poultry (turkey, chicken and duck) are also on the menu, albeit in moderation.
Fish, including tuna, trout, mackerel and salmon, and eggs including the yolk are also eaten on this diet plan.
Snacks include bone broth, hard boiled eggs and vegetables, as well as beef and turkey jerky as long as it is not flavoured with sugar.
Meanwhile, any type of sugar is completely off limits on this diet, even healthier sugar types such as agave nectar.

Taking to Reddit, the man, known only as his username ‘bluestic’, said he was 19, 6 foot, and lost a total of 88lbs (six stone two pounds).
He titled the post: “A moderate gym routine and a keto diet goes a long way!
Speaking of his daily diet, he said: “I eat my first meal around 12 and I tend to make eggs and bacon with cheese as my go to.
“For snacks I eat cheese sticks, pepperoni discs, or sardines mostly, when dinner comes around I like to look up low carb keto recipes.”
